Thus, by following these virtues and morals, people are attuned to do good works and get wiser in the process. From the Chinese perspective, philosopher Confucius gives us an assortment of thoughts, views, and sayings – Analects – that shape the Chinese morality. By following the Analects, people believe their relationships with others in the society improve and become better. This paper seeks to explore Confucius’ thoughts on the importance of filial piety. It also seeks the meaning of filial piety based on Confucius’ perspective and the relationship of this meaning with the rest of his ideas with specific reference to jen.
