Student Loan Debt: National Crisis
Length: 10 pages (2750 Words)
The topic of study is imperative considering the alarming rate in which student debts are increasing to an extent that they may be unsustainable in the future. The student debts may pose a threat to the national political system in various ways. Giving free or cheaper higher education is of the best interest of the US national politics (Alonzi, Irons, & Razaki, 2015). Being a global economic superpower, the United States needs to work out strategies to lower the cost of education as a long-term solution to the reduction of student debts. One of the central manifestos in almost any presidential campaign in the country is the creation of jobs. This requires the availability of graduates with the skills and competencies that modern organizations look for (Callender & Jackson, 2008). However, such political ambitions cannot be achieved if the education system continues to heap debts on the individual students. It is high time that the government comes in to help solve this dilemma in the education system. The growing student debt, therefore, negatively impacts students and the American political system. Some graduates may be declared bankrupt because they concentrate too much on repayment of their school loans and overlook other bills (Booij, Leuven, & Oosterbeek, 2012). This creates concerns in the modern political system and something needs to be done for sobriety to be attained.
