The effectiveness of these tests, however, has been an issue of controversy whereby some people view them as a means to divide students based on class performance. Others, however, view them as determinants of how effective the teaching methods and materials are in a curriculum. This remains to be an issue of controversy owing to the various ideologies surrounding the modern education curriculums. Exams and continuous tests are used from the lowest learning levels up to tertiary institutions where a student’s performance or success is based on how much he or she scores in tests. Student assessment and tests are very important in evaluating the effectiveness of students learning. They not only provide a forum for grading but also provide a chance to monitor the progress of individual students in class in terms of performance.
