The hospitality industry has experienced wide transformations over the years with advancements in technology. The industry has grown and attracts many people from different places all over the world. There are increased hospitality destinations and improved services. A major contribution in these developments is the advanced communication networks through the internet and social media (Sigala, Christou& Gretzel, 2012). There are many social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp among many others used by people in the industry as well as by customers.Large traffic worldwide has access to the internet and social networks availed in mobile phones. The social networks havefeatures of posting images or videos and the public and hospitality people use them for hospitality activities. Due to the social nature of the industry, social networks have great influence and would change the mode of conducting business. This paper argues that the social media is widely used in the hospitality industry and would fundamentally change the businesses in the sector.
