What is most stressful about being a leader and soldier in the army?
One of the major stressors in the army is the increasing number of peacekeeping operations, humanitarian, and other operations that require the army to be involved. This has led to increased number of deployments as the military organizations shrink in size. Units are now deployed more frequently, a factor that calls for frequent training leaving little time for resting. Another stressing factor is the increasing number of military operations; some of which are traumatic. The deployments also imply more separation from family, friends, and relatives as some military officers go on an operation for few months without visiting their families. The military officers also develop fear and tension that may lead to severe stress. This mainly happens when their friends and colleagues get injured or die in wars. They end up having a life that is unpredictable; yet they cannot decline the deployments.
