Specify your search searching “peer reviewed” research articles written by professors from research universities. Paul Bennet currently serves as a professor at the school of psychology in the present day University of Swansea. In the article titled Abnormal and Clinical Psychology, he describes various aspects of the two types of psychology from an expert’s point of view. Firstly, he describes abnormal psychology as the branch of psychology that studies unusual patterns of behavior, emotion and thoughts which are understood to precipitate a mental disorder (Bennet, 2003). The explanation is true, at least, according to extensive research conducted by various other scholars around the world.
Most people have been diagnosed with the problem especially after being seen with symptoms pertaining to mental disorders. Abnormal psychology particularly focuses on the clinical aspects of unusualbehaviours. Italso identifies the causes of different conditions through the development of theories that support the same and which, in most cases, are hinged on the real idea of abnormality. Through this, Bennet classified the types of abnormal psychology as subnormal, supernormal or paranormal.
