Different cultures have different perceptions about what is wrong and right in the society. According to relativists, right or wrong varies from one culture to another, therefore, judgment on an individual’s right or wrong behavior is determined by the culture in which that individual is embedded (Gowans, 2000). Cultural relativists maintain that no particular cultural perception can be treated with specialty than the other because each and every culture is distinct and has distinct practices. However, the views of moral relativists are sometimes consistent with implications. For instance, they have been against the idea of universalism and unaware that their views on moral values are marred with exaggerations about the cultural diversity. The other implication of the moral relativism is that their arguments are pernicious. It is not right to assert that the nature of the society and cultural activities are the determinant of their norms. The last implication about this ethical argument is that moral relativism shows elements of inconsistency in an attempt to refute the universality of morals and values. This is because the moral relativists are also advocates for universal tolerance among cultures (Gowans, 2000).
