The society is a place that has all the categories of human beings, with different needs. People are not able to access the information concerning what happens, unless there is a structured way of getting the information. Therefore, the newscasters have the role to communicate with the citizens. As this happens, they ought to only report to the society what is beneficial, not what the people want to hear. It will be more complicated if they reported what people want to hear, since every individual has a taste of what they would opt to listen to (Schramm 22). It would take the whole day reporting different information for different groups of people, thus wastage of time. On the other hand, reporting what is only important to the society can help the people collectively. It enhances oneness, and in case of any problems, the society can fight together. The society does not want to hear from each individual, but what will help them in their lives, as they deal with what happens. Hence the audience does not have the autonomy to choose what it wants to hear.
