Do Not Go Gentle into That Night & Psalms of Life
Length: 2 pages (643 Words)
Do Not Go Gentle into That Night is made up six stanzas. The first five stanzas are tercets while the last stanza consists of four lines making it a quatrain. The second poem, Psalms of Life, is a single stanza poem as it contains no breaks between the stanzas; it consists of twenty lines. This is defined as the structure of the poem.
Both of these poems are describing the same thing, which is life. Do Not Go Gentle into That Night is about Thomas trying to convince his dad to fight for his life even though he knows that death is inevitable. He uses examples of the wise men, who had fought death for they knew they had more to do in the world. The Psalms of Life also has a similar message; it is more like a spiritual song which encourages people to live their life in a fulfilling way. He urges his reader to live in a righteous way for life will soon end
