Differentiation in an organization represents existence of different structural units, whether departmental, sections orientated or office branches, performing different tasks that are carried out using different set of skills (Bateman & Snell 8-6). This kind of structural arrangement is common in large companies, where small departments exist within the overall parental structure. In differentiation, there is a division of labor and specialization.           

Integration, on the other hand, represents an organizational structure that involves different departments brought together to work in harmony by combining forces for the collective achievement of company goals. In this type of arrangement, it is quite difficult to pick out different departments; the only way to realize the difference is to see the state of the product or service at a certain stage. Coordination is a key element in the integration since it connects different department of an organization, therefore, helping to attain the targeted mission.
