Julie And Julia Movie Review
Length: 4 pages (1100 Words)
Julie and Julia
After careful examination, the movie “Julie and Julia” presents the kitchen space in contemporary America and discusses its significance (DeFonza n.d.). This space is a challenge and an opportunity for women, especially with technological empowerment. In the movie, the kitchen is viewed as a dichotomous space that is both culturally oppressive and empowering. The sexist nature of the kitchen limits the mobility of gender through kitchen walls. Domestically, the kitchen is designed as a woman’s space that limits her to the domestic sphere (DeFonza n.d.). Although feminist theories view it as a sexist space, the movie celebrates the kitchen as a liberating space for self-discovery. Feministic dialogues identified from the movie include technology, empowerment, and culture.
