HRM: Short Synthesis
The roles in HRM have evolved over the years and current professionals confront complex tasks in the course of propelling or supporting their organizations to realize success. Consequently, the practitioners require advanced technical and generic competencies to cope with present and future demands. Comprehensive competencies for success would be generated by integrating different perspectives available to bridge gaps and uphold common ideas. The academicians, potential employers, and industry-based practitioners have wide views for HRM capabilities that would help attain success. This paper will synthesize the technical as well as other generic skills needed by HR practitioners in order to be successful from three perspectives: potential employer, academic literature, and the practitioners in the industry. This will be achieved by identifying similarities and differences among the three perspectives in order to derive the priority competencies for HR professionals. The paper will also evaluate and give implications for the connection or disconnection between the perspectives. Eventually, it will summarize identified competencies in a table.
