In basic terms, global citizenship can be viewed as a phenomenon in which persons identify with part of a materializing world community. In addition, individual’s actions contribute to global community’s practices and values. As a result, the idea of global citizenship has had profound effects with regard to the manner in which persons seek knowledge and or address their social concerns. Accelerated by technological advances, global citizenship has meant that cultural differences are gradually fading away. Global citizens are also familiar with burgeoning set of practices and values. Traditionally, humans have arranged themselves into communities/groups based on shared characteristics including traditions, culture and religion (Zembylas and Vrasidas 65-83). Technology via global citizenship generates forces of worldwide engagement, and helping individuals identify themselves as people of a world community. Altogether, people’s ability to connect plus share with others has been accelerated.
