Effectiveness of Technology in Service Delivery
In the modern world, questions have been raised about the importance of using technology to improve service delivery in nursing organizations. Many of the nursing institutions are using the old methods of healthcare. Recent developments have shown that the trend is changing as nursing institutions are warming to the use of technology in healthcare. This paper will critique a peer-reviewed study by reporting the purpose of the research, study sample, study design, methods of data collection, findings and limitations of the study. Finally, the paper will summarize the research to find out if there is a change in idea or practice in nursing institutions based on the findings. The study journal used for this paper is “The Effectiveness of Mobile-Health Technologies to Improve Health Care Service Delivery Process: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” (Free et al., 2013).
Do mobile-health technology interventions have beneficial effects on the process of health care service delivery? The study aimed at conducting systematic reviews of mobile technology interventions controlled trials to assess whether they improve service delivery in health care institutions (Donner, 2008). Mobile technologies such as communication and computing applications were studied concerning data collection, patient health lifestyles, patient-doctor relations and management of chronic conditions (Donner, 2008). Beneficial aspects of mobile communication and computing were targeted regarding clinical management support in remote areas, reminders of doctor appointments and sending of patient’s laboratory test results (Donner, 2008).
