Comparison of the Characters of the Oak and the Reed
The oak is proud and arrogant. The character is demonstrated by the way it mocks the reed that it is strong enough to resist any wind. It also looks down upon the reed with trying to justify the weakness of the reed and how the reed is misused and fatigued by the ‘loads’ of nature that would not have any impact on the oak, “ you have good reason to complain, a wren for you is a load indeed.” Based on its pride and arrogance, the oak wants to proof to the reed that it is not comparable to it. it wants to directly proof its strength because a bird cannot be a load on its branches.
