My ambition upon graduation from the university is working in an organization that would fulfill my personal needs and offer inspiration to advance my career towards self-actualization. Personally, I prefer developing my career profile around the oil industry in Kuwait. The industry provides many career opportunities for fresh graduates, and those with a business degree would have a fair share due to vast business related activities in the sector. Kuwait has rich oil reserves endowment, estimated at 104 billion barrels in 2014, which support the industry (CIA, 2015). Consequently, oil is the largest sector in the country and the backbone of the economy. It is immensely developed with a positive future growth outlook and this promises opportunities for developing one’s career. Advanced skills are needed to take it to the next level, making it a suitable destination for graduates, not only in the business field but also other areas of specialization. The compensation practices in the industry are attractive, even for starters. The sector provides high salaries coupled with a range of benefits such as bonuses, comprehensive insurance and health care plans, as well as flexible and secure work environment. The sector is run by the government through the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and is characterized by job security and favorable labor terms unlike in the private sector. The KPC has 10 subsidiaries such as Kuwait Oil Company and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (Marcopolis, 2015, p1). They are involved in all upstream, downstream, and distribution functions in the industry. The government has also developed a long-lasting strategy to increase oil production capacity that would sustain the economy until 2030 and beyond (KAMCO, 2015). These promising work attributes make the industry my priority choice for realizing my career desires.
