Argumentative Essay On "Minimum Wages"
Length: 2 pages (740 Words)
The amount of a salary received by an individual can result to both the negative and positive impacts on parties involved.
For many years, minimum wage is a concept that has been of great debate for many years. It refers to a field of the economy that engages the price theory for the compensation of labourers in the workplaces. It can be explained to be the lowest reward or pay that the proprietor legally gives their employees. The controversy brought by the minimum wage concept occurs on issues of benefits and drawbacks of the minimum wage. This controversy has the sponsors of the minimum wage and on the other side, it has its opposition.
The proponents claim that maximizing the minimum wages would lead to improved living standards, discourages inequality, enhances the effectiveness of work and also improves the efficiency of work. However, the opposition denies these allegations by saying that it leads to increase of poverty, unemployment and also that it discourages the growth of the business. Employers argue on the basis that an economic review of the minimum wage had findings that about 75% of the experts agreed with the controversy that the minimum wage led to an increase in unemployment. The debates remain heated up because a similar survey conducted in 2006 claims that a well mandated minimum wage would result in a rise in employing many skilled workers.
